Dr. Basheer Ahmed Mayooq is an ophthalmologist with more than twenty years in practice and surgical experience spanning over 50,000 eye surgeries. He founded Ayaan Eye Hospital to bring careful, technology-supported eye surgery to Vijayawada.
He completed his MD at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, Ukraine, and his DO at Mamata Medical College, Khammam. His phacoemulsification training was completed in 2013, with advanced training at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.

A cataract is a gradual clouding of the eye's natural lens that softens and dims vision over time. Dr. Basheer performs phacoemulsification — a small-incision technique using the AMO Phaco system (USA) — to gently remove the clouded lens and replace it with an intraocular lens (IOL) chosen for your eyes and daily needs.
For those seeking freedom from spectacles, laser vision correction reshapes the cornea to focus light more clearly. Suitability is decided only after a detailed corneal assessment. TransPRK is a surface-based option that avoids creating a corneal flap, considered where it best fits the individual eye.
When the spectacle power is high or the cornea is unsuitable for LASIK, an Implantable Collamer Lens can be an option. A biocompatible lens is placed inside the eye without removing the natural lens — an approach considered for high myopia and select refractive errors.
A pterygium is a fleshy growth of the conjunctiva that can extend onto the cornea, causing irritation, redness and — when advanced — blurred vision. Surgical removal with amniotic membrane grafting is used to help reduce the chance of recurrence and support healing of the ocular surface.
